Hereford Garrison

Hereford Garrison is home to 22 SAS Regiment. The Special Air Service or SAS is a special forces regiment of the British Army that has served as a model for the special forces of other countries all over the world. The Special Air Service together with the Special Boat Service (SBS), Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR), and the Special Forces Support Group (SFSG) form the United Kingdom Special Forces under the command of the Director Special Forces.

Hereford is located on the A49 between Ross-on-Wye and Shrewsbury. Hereford town is a bustling, up and coming city centre with plenty of shops and restaurants. Hereford Garrison is split into two main areas, Credenhill and Stirling Estate. Both locations have different types of SFA and there are six miles between them.

The unit facilities are some of the best in the British Army, but as this is an operational unit only some are accessible to dependants. One of the facilities used by dependants is the Gymnasium and the other is the Aquatic Centre, both have timetables of when they can be used which can be accessed from the HIVE. For military personnel there is the Officer's Mess and the WOs'/SGTs' mess both with fantastic facilities, an all ranks bar open daily 9.30-2.00pm and then evenings Mon-Thur 7.00-11.00pm, an Army Learning Centre, Library, and hairdressers.
